At pharmacy, police arrest man on drug charges

AUSTINTOWN -- Police arrested a Youngstown man on drug charges Tuesday after investigating a report that a false prescription for Vicodin was called in to the Medicine Shoppe on Mahoning Avenue.
Police charged Jerry Bohrer, 40, of Lakeview Street with deception to obtain dangerous drugs and drug abuse.
A Medicine Shoppe pharmacist told police that a man who said he worked in a Girard doctor's office had called at about 1:30 p.m. to place a prescription for Vicodin, a painkiller. The pharmacist later called the Girard doctor and learned the man did not work for him.
Police said that at about 4 p.m., Bohrer came to the pharmacy and picked up the prescription. An undercover officer who had been posing as a customer followed Bohrer out of the pharmacy and told him to stop.
Bohrer then ran to a nearby car. He eventually got out of the car and was arrested.
