CHICAGO, Ill. -- Juniors Annie Buschur and Colleen Royer each had seven kills as Youngstown State lost to Loyola 30-22, 30-28 and 30-14 Saturday in a Horizon League match at Alumni gymnasium.
The Ramblers (22-4, 10-1) had 13 services in the win over the Penguins (8-20, 0-12).
Cross country
YOUNGSTOWN -- Sophomore Emily Schnikey was chosen to the first team on the Horizon League's all-star squad.
Schnitkey ran a personal-best time of 18 minutes, 7 seconds to finish sixth at the league championship Nov. 2.

Geneva womenwin openers
CEDARVILLE -- Ron Galbreath got his coaching career off to a good start as Geneva College topped Grace College 67-70 and Cedarville University 70-67 Friday and Saturday, respectively.
Freshman Jen Rawding paced the Golden Tornadoes in the win over Cedarville with 22 points. Sabrina Adams and Johnna Smith each had 10.
Volleyball all-starsto play Wednesday
COLUMBIANA -- The Inter-County League and Tri-County League will play a five-game all-star volleyball match, using rally scoring, Wednesday at Crestview High at 7 p.m.
The Tri-County League team, coached by Jason Jones of Crestview, will be represented by Amanda Allen of Columbiana, Abbey Fristik and Kate Kestner of Crestview, Liz Strohecker and Abby Gorby of East Palestine, Brianna Duko of Leetonia, Megan Rose of Lisbon, Staci Wilson of Sebring, Emilie Weeda of Southern and Kelly Powell of United.
Bill Knight of Springfield will coach the Inter-County League team. Members of the squad will be Ashley Loutzenhiser of Jackson-Milton, Danielle Hvisdak of Lowellville, Brittany Parks and Lindsey Mizicko of Mathews, Dariana Casado, Carrie Wilson and Kerry McGregor of Mineral Ridge, Kelly James and Amy Alego of South Range, Jessica Snyder of Springfield and Theresa Polack and Jen White of Western Reserve.
Ursuline tickets
YOUNGSTOWN -- Ursuline High announced that tickets will be available in the athletic office this week for Friday's playoff football game against Girard.
Tickets, which cost $5 for general admission, will be sold Tuesday and Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Thursday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The game, a Division IV regional final, will be played at Austintown Fitch's Falcon Stadium at 7:30 p.m.

POMONA, Calif. -- John Force beat teammate Tony Pedregon at the Southern California NHRA Finals at Pomona Raceway to win his 12th Funny Car title and 10th in a row. The title was decided in the semifinal round of the season finale.
Fuzzy Zoellertakes Senior Slam
SUPERSTITION MOUNTAIN, Ariz. -- Fuzzy Zoeller regained the Senior Slam lead on the 15th hole and held on to win by one stroke.
Zoeller carded a 1-under-par 71 for a two-day total of 6-under 138. He edged Don Pooley, who shot a 69 in the final round, to win $300,000 in the tournament which featured this year's Senior major championship winners.
U.S. beats Canada
PASADENA, Calif. -- Mia Hamm chipped a shot over Canada goalkeeper Karina LeBlanc 3:34 into overtime to lift the United States to a 2-1 victory in the CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup final.
The United States and Canada already had assured themselves berths in the 2003 World Cup in China.

Japan beats MLB stars
TOKYO -- Alex Cabrera homered and drove in three runs, and Koji Uehara pitched six strong innings, leading Japan's all-stars to an 8-4 victory over the major league all-stars in the first game of a seven-game exhibition series.
Barry Bonds struck out three times in a game for the first time since Aug. 8, 2001.
