YOUNGSTOWN -- National recording artist John Starnes will sing at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Nov. 24 at Highway Tabernacle Church. Starnes will perform well-known hymns and popular gospel songs. Sunday morning will include music with Highway's 50-member Tabernacle Choir. Call (330) 792-234.
Polka Mass set
McDONALD -- Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church will celebrate a Polka Mass at 5 p.m. next Saturday. A social will follow.
Christian education
BOARDMAN -- Berean School of the Bible Global University System is presenting classes at River of Life Ministries in Boardman starting at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
The classes include: "The Life of Christ," which is $80 for new students and $70 for previously enrolled students.

Special ministry
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Deaconess Ministry of Tabernacle Baptist Church will present the message of the Gospels through singing, instruments and dance at 4 p.m. Nov. 24.
Thanksgiving Masses
YOUNGSTOWN -- Bishop Thomas J. Tobin of the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown will celebrate Thanksgiving Masses twice: at 10:15 a.m. Nov. 27 at Ursuline High School in Youngstown, and at 9 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, at St. Nicholas Parish in Struthers.
Eucharistic Day
HERMITAGE, Pa. -- Bishop Benedict C. Franzetta, retired auxiliary bishop of the Youngstown Catholic Diocese, will be the speaker at the annual Eucharistic Day at 7 p.m. Nov. 24 at Church of Notre Dame.
Special devotions
YOUNGSTOWN -- Sts. Cyril & amp; Methodius Church will have Solemn Eucharistic Devotions on Sunday and Monday.
The schedule includes: Sunday: Opening liturgy at 10:30 a.m.; public adoration, 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and evening prayer and benediction at 4 p.m. with the sacrament of reconciliation. Monday: Morning liturgy, 11 a.m.; confessions at noon and 3 p.m.; adoration from noon to 3 p.m.; and a closing celebration with procession at 7 p.m. followed by a meal in the church hall.
Satellite seminar

50th anniversary
NEW MIDDLETOWN -- St. Paul the Apostle Church in New Middletown is celebrating its 50th anniversary as a parish.
The celebration has been ongoing throughout 2002 and will continue through Christmas 2003. The parish was founded in 1952 and its first church opened Christmas 1953.
The weekend of Nov. 23 and 24 has been set aside for special liturgies, refreshments after all the Masses, displays of parish history and memorabilia, and recognition of all founding families and individuals.
A special historical drama done by parish children and others as part of this year's annual mission to be held April 6-8, 2003. A special Christmas ornament has been designed and will be available for ordering next year with delivery by Christmas 2003.
Vocal group performs
BOARDMAN -- Ed Enoch & amp; Golden Covenant Quartet, formerly J.D. Sumner and the Stamps, will be performing at Christ's Church Boardman at 7 p.m. Nov. 21.
Lead singer Ed Enoch was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 1997.
The Stamps Quartet had several Dove Awards for Best Gospel Group. The new tenor singer for the group is Royce Taylor from Columbiana, who sang with the Vogues for five years.

Gospel performance
NORTH LIMA -- The Lee Heights Gospel Choir from Cleveland will perform at the North Lima Mennonite Church at 6 p.m. Nov. 24.
Healing Mass
YOUNGSTOWN -- A healing Mass will be at St. Casimir's Church at 11 a.m. Nov. 20. A light lunch will be served after the service. Call (330) 743-3951.
20th anniversary
BOARDMAN -- The 20th anniversary of Our Lady of Soufanieh, the Fountain of Holy Oil, will be Nov. 26 St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church.

Fire department funds
NORTH GEORGETOWN -- Emmanuel Lutheran Church in North Georgetown with assistance from Lutheran Brotherhood and Aid Association for Lutherans recently presented a check for $2,516 to members of the North Georgetown Volunteer Fire Department. A dinner and a silent auction were held in September in honor of and to benefit the fire department.
