YOUNGSTOWN -- Cardinal Mooney High School will be administering a high school placement test for prospective 2003-2004 freshmen at 9 a.m. Nov. 23 and Dec. 7 in the school cafeteria. Students should use the front entrance which is on Erie Street and should arrive at 8:55 a.m. Students should bring several No. 2 sharpened pencils, a calculator, and their Social Security number. The results of the test will be used, along with a student's academic records, to help determine placement in courses for the freshman year. There is no charge for the test and parents will receive a copy of the test results.

Shakespeare festival
GREENVILLE, Pa. -- High school students are invited to participate in the 20th annual Greenville High School Shakespeare Festival on Jan. 30. Participants must prepare a script running no longer than 30 minutes and using Shakespearean dialogue. Awards are given for best entry and for best actor and actress and best supporting actor and actress. Participants receive a videotape and digital pictures. One adult adviser must accompany every 15 students. Entry fee is $60 by Dec. 11 or $70 after. For entry forms and other information, call (724) 588-2500, ext. 2241.
A top student-athlete
POLAND -- Kenzie Schumer, a Poland Seminary High School student, is one of four Northeast Ohio seniors recognized as "this week's outstanding student athletes" by the Brennan Financial Group in Cleveland, as part of the company's annual scholarship program. Students selected are college-bound, have a grade point average of at least 3.0 and are competing for scholarships worth at least $2,000.
Scholarships available
COLUMBUS -- More than 100 scholarships ranging from $2,000 to $15,655 are available to 2003 high school graduates through the Ohio Association of Career Colleges and Schools. Applicants must have a C average or higher and be recommended by a state senator or representative. Applications are available from high school counselors. Application deadline is Feb. 21.
