Library offers free appraisals of antiques

EAST PALESTINE -- Have you ever wanted to know the value or history behind an item you've had around the house?
The East Palestine Memorial Public Library staff invites you to pack up that family heirloom, dust collector or garage sale treasure and bring it to the library, 309 N. Market St.
The library will sponsor an antiques appraisal program from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 18.
Lisa Rohrbaugh, library director, said she was amazed to see the variety of items people brought during last year's program. Items ranged from antique glassware to paintings, sculptures and other works of art.
She said last year about 40 people brought items to be examined by local antiques experts.
Among the items was a wooden box made from a single piece of wood with a woodlands scene carved in the lid.
Rohrbaugh said she was also delighted to see some pottery from East Palestine's former W.S. George pottery.
There is no charge for the event and no limit to the number of items each person can bring, she said.
