CAMPUS NOTES In the spotlight



MOUNT UNION COLLEGE
Anthony Jones and Trina McKelly of Youngstown and Nicole Yanik of Masury have been selected into the Dowling Mentor Program at Mount Union. The program has selected 39 students to act as mentors to middle and high schoolers from the Alliance area for the 2002-03 academic year.
KENT STATE UNIVERSITY
KSU senior Nicole Eberle, of Warren, was named 2002 Homecoming Queen during half-time at the Oct. 19 Ohio University versus KSU football game.
Eberle, an advertising major, was nominated for the homecoming court by the KSU Office of Alumni Relations, where she works.
The 1999 John F. Kennedy High School graduate was one of 12 members selected to the court.
KSU's 2002 Homecoming King is James Bailey of Alliance.
EASTERN MENNONITE UNIVERSITY
Junior Jonathan H. Trotter of Columbiana, a communication major, is a member of the Chamber Singers select student choir at the Harrisonburg, Va., university.
He sings bass in the 32-member chorus. The group performs choral music, hymns, spirituals and music from around the world and recently led worship for homecoming weekend.
The singers also recently released a compact disc titled "Treasures of Mennonite Singing" and will travel across the eastern United States on a weekend tour. Tentative plans are to perform in Cuba during the March spring break.
ASHLAND UNIVERSITY
Christopher Kondas of Canfield, a middle-school education major, has been inducted into the university's chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta.
The group is open to freshmen and sophomores who earn a 3.5 or higher grade point average their first year. It seeks to encourage superior academic achievement, promote intelligent living and assist students in recognizing and developing meaningful goals.
Kondas is also a member of the university's Collegiate Middle Levels Association.
