Florida State suspends defensive back

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Florida State cornerback Stanford Samuels was suspended Thursday for this weekend's game against Wake Forest for violating team rules.
Seminoles coach Bobby Bowden would not specify what rules Samuels broke. He will be replaced in the lineup by Bryant McFadden and Leroy Smith, though defensive coordinator Mickey Andrews hadn't decided who will start.
"They both practiced real well this week," Andrews said
In limited action this season, McFadden has two interceptions and Smith one. Samuels has one interception while playing most of the snaps.
"Unfortunately, it had to happen like this, but some things happen for a reason," McFadden said. "This is a great opportunity for me or Leroy to show people what we can do."
Samuels has 32 tackles this year. He's forced one fumble and recovered two, but has been beaten by opposing receivers.
He gave up the tying touchdown in an overtime loss to Louisville and was beaten for a 65-yard touchdown on Notre Dame's first offensive play last Saturday.
